Building a skincare routine around device treatments

A beauty device performs best as part of a short, repeatable sequence rather than as an isolated step. The formulas used before and during a treatment affect comfort, glide and how easily the device can move across the skin - so it is worth treating the routine as a whole rather than focusing on the device alone.
1. Cleanse first, every time
Starting from clean, dry or lightly damp skin (check the specific device instructions) removes makeup, sunscreen and the day's buildup so the treatment is applied to the skin itself. A double-cleanse step is worth the extra minute before any energy-based treatment.
2. Apply a conductive gel or serum before the device
Devices that use RF, EMS or micro-current modes need a conductive medium to glide comfortably and to help the device maintain skin contact throughout the treatment. A dedicated massage gel is formulated for this; skipping it, or substituting a moisturiser not designed for the purpose, is one of the more common reasons people find a treatment less comfortable than expected.
3. Follow the treatment area order in the manual
Most device manuals specify a treatment sequence - typically working from the neck and jaw upward, or in a specific pattern around the eye area. 4. Lock in the treatment with a finishing serum
A finishing serum applied immediately after the device treatment, while the skin is still receptive, is the step most routines skip when short on time - but it is specifically where a device-paired serum is designed to be used.
A simple three-times-a-week structure
If you are building the habit from scratch, this is a reasonable starting structure before adjusting to your own skin:
- Cleanse (double cleanse if wearing makeup or sunscreen that day)
- Apply conductive gel to the treatment area
- Run the device sequence as described in its manual
- Apply the finishing serum while skin is still warm
